Usman Shuja is driven by creating value for technology enterprises and making societal impact of global scale through innovation, commercial excellence, and cultural transformation.

He is a proven tech entrepreneur and executive with experience in building a unicorn, leading global P&Ls in large organizations, and advising government agencies. Currently, Usman is the CEO of Bluebeam and the Chief Division Officer of the Construct and Build Division for Nemetschek, the third largest publicly listed software company on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Usman is passionate about innovating for the $10 trillion construction and real estate market to address grand challenges such as waste reduction, decarbonization, and efficiency.

Previously, he led Honeywell’s largest software business, which included the world's largest Buildings Management System (BMS) software. Usman joined Honeywell 2019 as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for Honeywell software. In that role, he led two acquisitions worth $1.4B, three strategic partnerships and a Go-To-Market transformation that led to 20% increase in sales productivity.

In 2014, Usman joined an early-stage startup, SparkCogntion, with the mission to solve large-scale problems in energy and national security domains. His time at SparkCognition – now a unicorn – has inspired him to contribute to American leadership in artificial intelligence. Usman helped build SparkCognition from a three-person company into an industrial artificial intelligence leader over 6 years, brought four artificial intelligence products to market and raised $170M from the likes of Michael Dell, John Chambers, Boeing and Temasek.

Usman has worked at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and IBM. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BS in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Usman is a recent graduate from a mid-career Master in Public Administration (MPA) at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

He has served as an advisor to several public and private organizations including DARPA, Engage, an innovation and venture capital platform funded by top Fortune 500 companies in Atlanta and NetRise, a venture-backed start up. He is a visiting global faculty member of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the EGADE business school, Tec de Monterrey, Mexico. He often speaks and writes on the topics of artificial intelligence, innovation, sports, and sustainability for platforms such as Forbes, ESPN, Tech Target and VentureBeat.

Usman represented the USA national cricket team for a decade, retiring as a record holder. He served on the USA Cricket board and the local advisory board for the International Cricket Council (ICC), world governing body. He believes sports is a fundamental right and provides significant social benefits. As such he advises UNESCO sports, a UN agency focused on promoting sports.

On a personal front….

He is an avid sports fan and enjoys following cricket, football, and baseball. He has completed three sprint triathlons and is currently learning golf.

He, with his partner and 2 children, enjoy staying active, learning languages with Duolingo and supporting social causes.
